Y Charter Year: 1998-1999

Y Officer strut was created by the 2000-2001 Officers

Y The Chevals received their nickname “Sweethearts of Carrollton” in 2000-2001 when their yearly theme was “Put Your Heart into it.”

Traditions

Y ”Flower Power” and the “I’m in” ceremony were created by Jeffrey Giles

Y The same candle has been used for the “I’m in” ceremony every year since the start of the team
Wacky Facts

Y Margaret Pearce gave the Charter team a “Dance like One Big Fat Girl” banner at the 1999 Banquet.  Taryn Hatcher, being her crazy self hung it up in the locker room crooked one day.  Still to this day the banner hangs crooked to remind the team of our first team motivator and her wild personality.

Y Officers did not always have white uniforms

Y Freshmen could try-out until the 2000-2001 season

Y The team used to wear their belts with the laces facing the back.

Y Margaret Pearce created the saying “Dance Like One Big Fat Girl”

Past Directors
Y Margaret Pearce
Margaret Pearce was the first director for the Creekview High School Drill Team. Mrs. Pearce graduated High School in 1990 from Belaire High School in Baton Rouge, LA (native of Baton Rouge). She was the Captain of her dance team her senior year. After High School she taught for National Dance Alliance (back then it was NCA Superstar), and has traveled with them to New York City, Hawaii, Cancun, Tokyo Japan, and many places around the U.S. teaching camps, judging, and/or working special event productions. She graduated May, 1996 from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA and holds a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology and Health Studies with emphasis in Health and Fitness Promotion. She was a Mavericks Dancer in 1997-1998 and has been directing for 7 years. She has Chartered two other organizations besides Creekview: The Ranchview High School Cheer program, and the Centennial Sweethearts Drill Team in Frisco, which she is still the director of. She is married to Brian Pearce and has two children Bryce and Brianne. She was an amazing asset to the Chevals and helped set some of our traditions. One tradition that she helped start was the Mother/Daughter Winter Tea that is held every year.
