***National Champions***
On Friday, April 11th the 2007-2008 SMU Pom Squad, led by Captain Amy Reese, was named NATIONAL CHAMPIONS at the NCA/NDA College Nationals Competition in Daytona Beach, Florida.  They competed in a modern/jazz routine choreographed  by Heather Langham in the Open I Dance Division.  Not only did these girls compete in and win Nationals, they did so after overcoming catastrophic obstacles.  In short, they accomplished this with NO sleep after the whole American Airlines debacle left them with cancelled and delayed flights, no luggage, and an unexpected 5 1/2 hour bus ride from Miami to Daytona.  They arrived 4 hours before they hit the stage!!!

Congratulations Amy!!!                View Photo

Cheval Alumni Continues to break barriers

Alumni Drew Ellison is dancing her heart out at UNT!  Drew is currently majoring in dance and hopes to pursue a career as a dance instructer.  Recently she was selected for Mary Lynn Babcock's "Where Rivers Meet" duet.  This duet was performed at UNT as well as the Barefoot Brigade the first weekend in April.
Margaret Putnam, Special Contributor to The Dallas Morning News, wrote "Mary Lynn Babcock's "Where Rivers Meet" for two dancers was equally powerful (as Dallas Black Dance Theatre II) it was more subtle  and beautifully constructed."
You can view a very powerful picture of Drew at:
